At the moment In the UK, only the 9 largest current account providers must comply with the requirement to make your data available via an open banking API. Collectively these banks are known as the ‘CMA9’:
- Allied Irish Bank
- Bank of Ireland
- Barclays
- Danske
- HSBC
- Lloyds
- Nationwide
- RBS
- Santander
Other banks outside of this list are not yet required to provide APIs, but must still comply with PSD2. As the benefits of open banking grow over time you can expect to see more banks added to this list, as well as the ability to add things like credit cards, savings accounts and mortgages.
