Switching energy providers itself does not directly impact your credit score.
However, some providers do run credit checks on you before they will accept you as a customer. This is to ensure that you can meet any monthly payments required under the agreement. If a supplier has a credit check as part of their sign-up process then we will tell you this before it goes ahead and ask for your permission to continue.
Missing payments owed to your supplier CAN negatively impact your credit score in the same way that missing a loan or phone contract payment does.
